{"id":689,"date":"2019-03-22T10:00:50","date_gmt":"2019-03-22T09:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.victa.it\/?p=689"},"modified":"2019-03-18T12:49:29","modified_gmt":"2019-03-18T11:49:29","slug":"sources-of-omega-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.victa.it\/en\/sources-of-omega-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Sources of Omega-3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Polyunsaturated fatty acids <strong>Omega-3<\/strong> are defined as \u201cessential\u201d, since our body cannot synthetize them.<\/p>\n<p>The main fatty acids Omega-3 are: the <strong>Alpha-Linoleic Acid (ALA)<\/strong>, which is of vegetal origin (mostly found in walnuts, in flaxseeds oil and in other plant foods); the <strong>Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)<\/strong> and <strong>Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)<\/strong>, both found at high concentration in fatty fish and some algae.<br \/>\nThe ALA is the \u201cprecursor\u201d version of the longer chained fatty acids EPA and DHA.<\/p>\n<p>The intake of these fatty acids occurs through a proper diet or, alternatively, thanks to specific food supplements.<br \/>\nOmega-3 are known for their several properties, for example, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidants and metabolic. Some categories of people are more sensitive to this, for example kids and women (either pregnant or child-bearing age).
